History
ZSX stands for “Zip-Stitch Surgical Access and Closure.” The ZSX project was founded from Feta Med, Inc., a medical supply company specializing in the obstetric and neonatal communities.
Zip-Stitch® was developed as a result of discussions with various obstetricians and physicians, which identified shortcomings in cesaerean delivery.
Time Line:
- Feb, 2009 - Initial Pre-seed funding obtained
- Mar, 2009 - Seed Funding obtained
- April, 2009 - Initial patent filed
- Jun, 2009 - ZSX Medical spun out from Feta Med, Inc.
- July, 2009 - Obtained $15K grant from Ben Franklin Technology Partners
- Aug, 2009 - Selected manufacturing and development partners
- Current - Prototype development.
